How ECU remapping works on a petrol Seat Ibiza

Petrol engines are remapped by refining fuelling, ignition timing and, on turbocharged engines, boost control. Done carefully this releases performance the manufacturer left in reserve, giving sharper throttle response and a stronger top end.

Seat Ibiza 1.2 64 (+2002 - 6l) against other Ibiza engines

Of the 14 petrol Ibiza engines in our data, this one comes 11th for power gain, which is 10 bhp below the Ibiza petrol average of 24 bhp.

Across our whole catalogue the average petrol remap adds 27 bhp and 51 Nm, so this engine's 14 bhp and 27 Nm sits below that benchmark.
